Clarifications:

Q1.  In reference to Section 1010 page 2 of 4: "the technical terrain features pay item shall be paid by the square foot of area measured in place on the project site. These areas shall be identified as part of the final design and approved by the County before construction. These locations shall be outside of the trail tread and include areas to provide additional technical features adjacent to the primary trail tread. Locations for technical terrain features shall also include required retaining walls or slope protection adjacent to the trail tread to provide vertical support of the tread area or turning platforms. If compacted fill is required on top of the technical terrain, in-sloped turn or any technical trail feature area, it is required for these areas to be inspected and measured for payment by the County prior to placement of fill.

How will the cost of backfill be determined?  For instance If a contactor only builds an elevated insloped dirt roller curve in the trail tread without an adjacent rock retaining wall for dirt support, only the LF pay applies? Whereas if the same dirt roller curve is built with a rock retaining wall then the pay item is additive from the SF of TTFs pay line

A1. Per Section 00-1010 – “The primary trail tread and any required turning platforms or in-slope turns shall be subsidiary to the linear foot trail construction unit price.” To further clarify, any required grading utilizing earth fill regardless of exact location (beneath the trail tread, fill slopes or backfilling any retaining walls or other technical rock features) shall be subsidiary to the trail tread unit price.

Q2.  In order to have maximal time for gravity subcontractor to build and perfect the features and jumps, we would like to propose 60 working days for segments 3 & 4 (Alternates 1&2). This more closely matches the feet per day allowance of segment 5 (the easiest gravity line).  135 working days on the base bid, and 99 days on Alt 5/segment 7.

A2. The project management team has reviewed this request and finds it to be reasonable. The allowed times for Alternates 1 and 2 are adjusted accordingly to 60 working days for each.
