Project Name:              EET Shelby County Airport – Airfield Signage Removal and Replacement

This addendum shall be a part of the Plans, Contract Documents and Specifications to the same extent as though it were originally included therein, and it shall supersede anything contained in the Plans, Contract Documents, and Specifications with which it might conflict. This addendum, including all attachments, shall become part of the Contract and all provisions of the Contract shall apply thereto. The time provided for completion of the Contract has not been changed as noted in this addendum. Acknowledgement of receipt of this addendum must be noted in the appropriate section of the Bid Form and included with the Contract Documents.

 

Sealed bids for EET SHELBY AIRFIELD SIGNAGE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT, to be constructed for SHELBY COUNTY COMMISSION at the SHELBY COUNTY AIRPORT will be received at the office of the SHELBY COUNTY COMMISSION and addressed to The Shelby County Commission, 200 West College Street, Room 123, Columbiana, AL 35051, ATTN: Mr. Chad Scroggins, until 2:00 PM on TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2025, at which time the bids shall be publicly opened and read aloud.

 

  1. GENERAL CLARIFICATIONS

 

1. Construction start time will be coordinated based on award of the grant and equipment lead times.

Anticipate a Notice to Procure followed by a Notice to Proceed once materials are delivered.

 

2. A Shelby County Section 84 Business License will be required.

 

3. Removed signage shall be evaluated for spare parts and any items that could be re-used in remaining

airfield signs shall be presented to the Owner. All remaining parts shall be disposed of off-site by the

Contractor.

 

4. Removed concrete sign bases cannot be disposed of on-site, but must be hauled off and disposed of by the Contractor. These signs may be disposed of at the County landfill for no charge, but the Contractor will be required to transport the debris there for disposal.

 

5. A sweeper will not be required to be stay on-site at all times, provided the Contractor can maintain a clean jobsite and airfield pavements using other methods. If debris and FOD become an issue, a sweeper will be required.

 

6. Hours of runway closure for Phase 1 work are hereby modified to 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Work on other phases is allowed simultaneously with Phase 1 and may continue before and after these hours, but the hours of runway closure will be limited to 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily.

 

7. The Owner shall supply battery operated, lighted runway closure X’s for the Contractor’s use. The

contractor shall be responsible for the daily installation, removal, charging and maintenance of these X’s.
