Clarifications:
Q1. Are there any restrictions as to the types of machinery that can be utilized on each segment?
A1. There are no specific restrictions on the means and methods that a contractor uses during construction of any of the trail segments. Each trail segment shall meet the requirements outlined in the specifications.
Q2. Are any sections specifically identified to be hand built only? It was verbally stated in the pre-bid meeting that section #2 is expected to be a bi-directional double black diamond rated experience. Will any specifications be more specifically detailed other than what can be found in section 00-1010?
A2. Means and methods related to construction shall not be restricted and is the responsibility of the contractor to determine this based on the trail specifications for each segment and based on the field conditions. Detail as to the required characteristics of each trail segment were discussed at length at the pre-bid meeting. Additional guidelines and parameters can be found in the IMBA standards which are referenced in the Project Manual and required for the project.
Q3. Is the Owner (DCNR) or the project manager (Shelby County) planning to offer any machinery or equipment for this project?
A3. Because of the size and expected duration of this project, neither DCNR nor Shelby County are in a position to make available equipment at this time.
