Shelby County Vehicle Registration

Please be informed that as of March 1, 2018 Shelby County is issuing the new “Print on Demand” annual registration decals. This decal is much different than our traditional registration decal. The new decal encompasses both the renewal month and the year of registration so there will no longer be a need for both the month and annual decals. Also there is no longer a control number on the decal. The new “Print on Demand” decal has corresponding plate numbers or lettering printed on the decal. This element should assist law enforcement to determine the validity of the registration/decal.

Another change is the registration receipt itself. Since the receipt and decal are now printed as one document, the receipt is on plain white paper. The traditional tan stock is no longer used as of March 1, 2018. Below and attached is an example of the new receipt and decal.

We hope to make this transition as smooth as possible. This program will be phased in with all 67 counties by the end of 2018. However any new Shelby County plates issued after March 1, 2018 will only have the new “Print on Demand” decal.
