To Obtain a Certified Copy of a Marriage Certificate Issued in Shelby County, Alabama
You may request a copy of a marriage certificate by mail or in person at the Shelby County Probate Office. Please note: We can only provide copies of marriage certificates that were issued in Shelby County. To obtain a copy of a certified marriage certificate by mail, send $3 for each certified copy required to the following address:

- Include a postage-paid, self-addressed envelope for the return of your certified marriage certificate. The following information will need to be provided:
- Both parties' full name at time of marriage
- Date of marriage
- Daytime telephone number
- A check must be sent that is made payable to “Shelby County Probate Judge”

You may purchase a certified copy in the Probate Office, of the Shelby County Courthouse in Columbiana, Alabama. Copies are $3 per certification.

Shelby County’s Probate Office currently maintains marriage records dating from October, 1981, to to the present date. If you desire copies of marriage records dating prior to October, 1981, please contact the Shelby County Museum and Archives Office at (205) 669-3912.
