Shelby County maintains a 34-bed regional juvenile detention facility to accommodate youthful detainees and segregate them from the general adult detention facility. This facility is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Relevance to the Public
The overall goal of the Shelby County Regional Juvenile Detention Facility is to create a program to provide for the temporary and safe custody of juveniles who are alleged and/or adjudicated delinquent, and who require a restricted environment for their own or the community's protection while pending legal action.
