About the Department
The mission of Shelby County Department of Development Services is to protect, promote, and assure the safety and health of the people of Shelby County by influencing the quality of our built environment. The department provides planning, land development, building, fire safety, and permit coordination services to the citizens of Shelby County.

Notice - New Code Adoption
Effective April 1, 2010, the Shelby County Department of Development Services began enforcing the 2009 edition of the International Codes^®.
