ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
The State of Alabama passed legislation in the 2010 Legislative Session changing the state electrical licensing requirement from voluntary to mandatory. On or after December 31, 2011 it shall be unlawful for a person to perform electrical installations without being licensed as an electrical contractor by the State of Alabama.
Based on that action, Shelby County discontinued certifying
new master and journeyman electricians on August 1, 2010.
Compliance with the state legislation can be achieved
through several options.
